This year, District XI state winners traveled to Baltimore, Maryland for the 2018 National Leadership Conference from June 28th-July 1st.
Attendees included: Arissa Adhikary, Morgan Colwell, Roxy Miltenberger, Emily Schuler, Yasmin Saeed, Katarina Quintela, Daniel Saniukovich, Kristof Cseh, Loren Watson, Cassie Richardson, Cristopher Beckwith, Peyton Krimmel, and Teddy Tsengouras.
The conference started out with the Florida Meeting, where Florida’s National participants came together to discuss goals for the conference. Florida’s own state president, Zachary Sahin, ran for the position of the 2018-2019 FBLA National President. Our 2018-2019 Region IV Vice President, Aditi Mishra, led the meeting while other state officers were competing or heading campaigns.
Our district had competitors in many different events, from presentations to objective tests. Congratulations to Gulf High School seniors Daniel Saniukovich and Kristof Cseh, who advanced to the final round of competition in Banking and Financial Systems! Students made their way to the Baltimore Convention Center at their event time and had the chance to meet members from around the world that competed alongside them.
When not competing, students had the opportunity to attend workshops, network with FBLA members from across the country, explore Baltimore and even catch the 2018 FIFA World Cup. An exhibit hall was open to students to learn about prospective colleges, volunteer opportunities, and business education programs. Some District XI members became “Pro Certified” with MOS.
The exhibit hall also held campaign booths for candidates for National President and Regional Vice Presidents. Alabama’s Ty Rickard won the race for Southern Region Vice President and will be representing our region on the National Officer Team.
Prior to the Awards of Excellence Ceremony, District XI had a district meal at the Cheesecake Factory in the Inner Harbor.
At the Awards of Excellence Ceremony, Eu Ro Wang was announced as our 2018-2018
Congratulations to all of the District XI members who attended nationals. It was a great conclusion to a successful year. We hope to see many more of you at the 2019 National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas!
