Current Newsletter (December—1.5 minute read)
Hello District XI!
The next two months are going to be pretty busy (and not just from the holidays). It’s about that time to start getting ready for competitions. By now, you should have chosen your competition category and have a general idea of what you’ll be doing.
Here are some resources to further your knowledge on what to expect:
Link to rubrics for all categories: https://www.fbla-pbl.org/media/2021/08/FBLA-Rating-Sheets.pdf
General category information: https://www.fbla-pbl.org/divisions/fbla/fbla-competitive-events/
In addition to that, don’t hesitate to do your own research! There are many quizlets available for test categories. Furthermore, you can find examples of winning presentations all over if you search up national winners from previous years. These should help you to get the ideas flowing if you’re having trouble.
Some important dates to remember regarding competitions are the 11th, 14th, and 21st. You can find more information about these days on the calendar tab of this website. Be sure to clear your schedules on the 14th from 4pm-7pm (if you are competing in a presentation category). You may want to keep in mind for classes that the 21st is the award ceremony
Also, a good thing to start thinking about is fundraising. How many of your members do you think will qualify for states? How many will want to go for workshops? As many members as you want to send can go whether they qualify for states or not. The catch is, you’ll have to pay for it. Therefore, fundraising is very important. There are many options including partnering with a company that does fundraising or creating your own fundraiser. Simple things such as car washes and asking local businesses to “sponsor” a student add up.
Be sure to reach out to your club officers with questions (or us if you aren’t able to find the answer).
Until next time,
Bye from your District XI officers :)
